Does Nelio A/B Testing Work with HTTP and HTTPS Protocols?

Nelio A/B Testing only works on HTTPS websites. If your site is still using HTTP, the plugin will not track visitors, assign variants, or record conversions.

Why HTTPS Is Required

Nelio A/B Testing handles behavioral data (pageviews, clicks, conversions) that must be transmitted securely. HTTPS ensures:

  • Encrypted communication between the user’s browser and your server
  • Protection against tampering or data interception
  • Compliance with modern security and privacy standards
  • Compatibility with browsers that block mixed or insecure content

Because of this, the plugin disables tracking on non-HTTPS websites.

How to Check If Your Site Uses HTTPS

Look at your site’s URL:

  • https://example.com → Supported
  • http://example.com → Not supported

If you’re unsure, ask your hosting provider or administrator.

What If My Website Still Uses HTTP?

You’ll need to enable HTTPS before using Nelio A/B Testing.

Most WordPress hosting providers offer SSL certificates and tools to enable HTTPS. If you’re unsure how to configure it, contact your hosting provider or site administrator.

Once your site is properly configured to use HTTPS, no additional Nelio A/B Testing configuration is required.
