Nelio Popups makes it easy to create attention-grabbing popups using our sound effects feature. Play sound as your popup appears to visitors on your site!
In this article, you’ll learn how to use Nelio Popups’ sound effects feature.
When you are ready to set the sound of a popup, follow these steps:
- Go to Nelio Popups » All Popups and edit the one you want.
- In the editor sidebar, go to the Settings panel, and open the Style tab.
There you will find a sound selector with several options.

By default, no sound is played when the popup is opened. However, you can change this behavior by selecting one of the sounds included in Nelio Popups within the Sound selector.

Right after you select one of the sound effect options in the selector, the sound effect will play so that you can decide if that is the sound effect that you need for your popup.
Alternatively, you can select the Custom option in the previous list. This will allow you to input the URL of a custom sound file that will be played when you open the popup.

The URL with the sound file must be publicly accessible. It is also recommended to use small sound files in order to speed the loading of the file on popup display and therefore provide a better user interaction.
Note that it is not possible to add sound effects to popups that appear immediately on page load. Modern browsers disabled autoplay features without a prior user interaction. After the user interacts with something on the page, any popup with a sound effect will play the sound as expected.
After setting the sound you want, save the popup and then it will open playing that sound.
