All the information you need in one place

What placeholders can I include in my messages and templates?

When you write a message or social template, you can include text, emojis, and/or placeholders.

Social templates of social profile

Placeholders that you add to the message or template will be replaced with the corresponding text when a message is created using that pattern.

You can use the Add placeholder icon on the right, below the text box, to see what bookmarks you have available either when creating a new social message or when creating a new template as you can see in the following images.

Depending on the type of content you are creating, you have the following placeholders:

  • {title} – The title of the post associated with the social message to be created.
  • {phrase} : add a phrase extracted from the content.
  • {highlight} – Add a phrase that has been flagged from the content or added to the end of the content as relevant to share.
  • {author} – The name of the author of the post.
  • {excerpt} – The excerpt of the post associated with the social message to be created.
  • {permalink} : the link of the post associated with the social message that will be created.
  • {categories} – Categories to which the post belongs.
  • {tags} : tags used in the post associated with the social message that will be created

Please note that when creating a social message from a post or custom content, you will only be shown those placeholders that make sense in the context of the message you are creating.

Likewise, if you are creating a social template for automations, keep in mind that depending on the plan you are using and the type of content added to the automation group, you will have different placeholders. For example, if you are creating a template for pages, you will not be able to use {tags} or {categories} because pages do not initially support tags or categories.

Finally, please note that you can also create your own placeholders to automatically insert content in your social publications from custom fields or even using custom functions. Refer to the following link for more details:
