The editorial calendar has always been at the heart of Nelio Content. It’s where you plan your posts, schedule social messages, manage editorial tasks, and get a bird’s-eye view of everything happening on your site. With Nelio Content 4.5, we’ve given it one of its biggest updates yet.
This release introduces a redesigned editorial calendar that makes busy schedules easier to understand, improves performance by loading data more efficiently, and adds new ways to search and filter your content. We’ve also added LINE support, introduced profile labels to make working with large numbers of social profiles much easier, and polished several areas of the social message editor.
Let’s take a closer look.
A cleaner, more useful editorial calendar
As your content strategy grows, so does your calendar. A single post may come with several social messages, editorial tasks, and other related events. Multiply that by dozens of posts and the calendar can quickly become difficult to scan.
In Nelio Content 4.5, we’ve redesigned the editorial calendar to better organize all this information. Posts now have a stronger visual role, while related social messages and editorial tasks are grouped together with the content they belong to. Instead of treating every item as an independent event competing for space, the calendar makes those relationships much clearer.

The result is a cleaner view where it’s easier to understand what’s happening without losing access to the details. You can focus on the posts you’re preparing and expand your attention to their associated tasks and social promotion when you need it. This becomes especially valuable on sites with an active editorial team or a busy social schedule, where a single week may contain a large number of calendar items.
We’ve also refreshed the timeline design to make content easier to scan. Together, these changes make the calendar feel less crowded and provide a clearer picture of your editorial plan.
Find the content you need without hunting through the calendar
A better organized calendar helps, but sometimes you already know exactly what you’re looking for. Nelio Content 4.5 adds new search and filtering tools to help you get there faster.
The calendar now includes a search bar for quickly finding content and a new text filter that can narrow the items currently shown based on their title, author, or category. This filtering also takes unscheduled posts into account, so drafts and ideas that haven’t yet found their place on the calendar are easier to locate too.

We’ve also reworked the calendar’s existing filtering interface. The different filtering and visibility options are now presented in a clearer and more consistent way, making it easier to decide what should appear on screen and what can temporarily stay out of sight.
These changes are particularly useful when you’re working on a site with many authors, categories, social profiles, or scheduled messages. Instead of navigating through a crowded calendar, you can progressively narrow the view until you’re looking at exactly the content you need.

Nelio Content
I’m so happy about Nelio Content that I will sound like a payed advocate… but here’s why you’ll love it: it works as promised, its auto-scheduling feature is top-notch, Nelio’s value for money is unmatched, and the support team feels like your own.

A faster calendar and Content Board
The changes in 4.5 aren’t only visual. We’ve also worked on what happens behind the scenes when Nelio Content loads your editorial information.
The Editorial Calendar and Content Board now retrieve posts, authors, and other related entities in batches, dramatically reducing the number of requests needed to build their interfaces. This is especially noticeable on sites with a lot of content or larger editorial teams, where loading all the information required by the calendar previously involved many individual requests.
By batching those entities together, Nelio Content can build the same view with far fewer requests to WordPress. The result is a calendar and Content Board that load more efficiently and put less pressure on the server, while keeping all the information your team needs readily available.
Combined with the new organization and filtering tools, this makes 4.5 not only easier to use, but also better suited to demanding editorial workflows.
Select groups of social profiles with profile labels
If you only manage two or three social profiles, selecting where a message should go is straightforward. Things change considerably when you’re responsible for dozens of profiles across different brands, sites, regions, or teams.
Nelio Content 4.5 introduces profile labels, which let you organize social profiles into your own reusable groups. You might create labels for a brand, a geographical market, a department, or any other combination that makes sense for your workflow. A social profile can belong to more than one label, so you’re not restricted to a single way of organizing your accounts.

When creating a social message, you can then use those labels to quickly select or deselect whole groups of profiles. Instead of manually choosing the same Facebook Pages, LinkedIn profiles, or Instagram accounts every time, you can apply the appropriate label and have the relevant profiles selected together.
This is particularly helpful for organizations managing a large social presence, but it can also simplify smaller setups where the same combinations of profiles are used repeatedly. And because labels help with selection without changing the profiles themselves, you can create as many overlapping groups as your publishing workflow requires.
Say hello to LINE
The list of social networks available in Nelio Content keeps growing. With version 4.5, LINE joins the family.
You can now connect Nelio Content to LINE groups and include them in your social publishing workflow along with Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Bluesky, Telegram, Mastodon, and the many other networks already supported by the plugin.

Once connected, LINE behaves like another publishing destination in Nelio Content. You can prepare messages alongside the rest of your social campaign and schedule them from the same editorial workflow instead of managing LINE separately.
For publishers and organizations with communities that rely on LINE, this means one less channel that needs to be handled outside WordPress and another piece of your promotion strategy that can live directly in the editorial calendar.
A more polished social message editor
The social message editor also received some attention in this release. Besides the new profile label selector, we’ve refined its styles to make the interface cleaner and easier to work with.
We’ve also improved the preview of Bluesky messages, helping the preview better represent what your audience will see once the message is published.
These may seem like smaller changes compared with the calendar redesign, but they affect an interface that many Nelio Content users interact with several times a day. Together with profile labels, they make creating and reviewing social messages quicker and more comfortable.
Safer subscription management
We’ve also changed how subscription and billing management works from the WordPress administration area.
Previously, accessing subscription management relied on a management URL being made available to the WordPress interface. In 4.5, we’ve redesigned this flow so those management URLs are no longer exposed in the WordPress admin. The process still takes you where you need to go when managing your subscription, but the sensitive part of that flow is now handled differently behind the scenes.
It’s a change most users won’t notice in their everyday workflow—which is precisely the point—but it makes the way Nelio Content handles access to billing management more robust.
How this release helps your team
Nelio Content 4.5 is ultimately about making a busy content operation easier to understand and faster to manage. The redesigned calendar brings posts and all their related activity together instead of filling the screen with disconnected items, while the new search and filtering options make it much easier to isolate the content you’re interested in. At the same time, the performance improvements underneath the calendar and Content Board mean that larger sites benefit from a more efficient way of retrieving all that information.
On the social side, profile labels address a very different kind of scale. If you manage many accounts, the question is no longer simply whether Nelio Content supports them, but how quickly you can work with the right combinations of them. Labels make those combinations reusable, while the refreshed social message editor and improved Bluesky previews make the publishing process more comfortable.
And, of course, adding LINE means another community can become part of that same workflow. Taken together, these changes push Nelio Content further toward what we want it to be: the place where you can see, organize, and execute your entire content and social media strategy without leaving WordPress.
