Nelio A/B Testing 8.1 is here 🎉

We’re excited to announce that version 8.1 of Nelio A/B Testing is now available! You can download it right from your WordPress dashboard or grab it from WordPress.org. This new release brings powerful new features, a smoother user experience, and plenty of under-the-hood improvements. Let’s take a look at what’s new.

CSS and Text Tests

In earlier versions of Nelio A/B Testing, we offered CSS Tests as a simple way to apply style changes to your pages by adding custom CSS. You could either type your own CSS rules or use a visual editor designed for non-technical users.

With version 8.1, this test type has been upgraded and renamed to CSS and Text Tests. Why the change? Because now you can do more:

• Style elements like buttons, paragraphs, or lists directly in your test variants.
• Tweak the text content of any selected element, giving you precise control over both design and messaging.

This makes it incredibly easy to apply small yet impactful changes without creating entirely new pages.

👉 How is this different from a regular Page Test?

• A Page Test compares two full WordPress pages (A and B). Visitors may need a quick redirection to see the correct variant, but you can redesign everything (layout, content, components… you name it).
• A CSS and Text Test works directly on your current page by applying lightweight, on-the-fly changes. No redirections, no extra pages—just fast, seamless modifications that are great for performance.

New Conversion Actions

At its core, A/B testing is about achieving your conversion goals, whether that’s more sales, more leads, or better engagement. Nelio A/B Testing tracks these goals through conversion actions, and version 8.1 introduces several new ones:

1. Engagement Tracking
   Now you can measure conversions based on visitor engagement. This includes clicks, scroll depth, or simply spending time on the page. A great way to understand how people truly interact with your content.

   Form submissions are one of the most common conversion goals, so we’ve broadened our compatibility. In addition to the plugins we already supported, Nelio A/B Testing now tracks submissions from:

   • MetForm
   • SureForms
