We just released the new version of Nelio A/B Testing, which comes with several new features and lots of improvements and bug fixes. If you’re one of its users, you don’t want to miss it! Here’s all you need to know about it.
URL Tests
As you may already know, you can easily test existing WordPress pages against each other. To do so, you simply need to create a page (or post or custom post type) test and enable the checkbox “Test against already-existing content.” After doing so, you’ll be able to select published content as your test variants:

which is great when regular tests don’t work with your specific setup or page builder.
Unfortunately, this type of test had some limitations that some of you may have already encountered. Namely, you can only test, as I just said, regular WordPress pages, posts, and other instances of custom post types. If you wanted to test things like, for example, archives or author pages, or if you wanted to test one type of content (like a page) against a different type of content (like a product), you couldn’t.
Well, this all changed with the latest versions of Nelio A/B Testing. In version 7.1 (I know, it’s the previous version, but we didn’t announce, so here it goes) you can now create tests based on the URL a visitor lands to:

This way, you don’t need to select “existing content” from your WordPress site. Instead, all you gotta do is list all the URLs that are part of your test, and our plugin will take care of the rest. In other words, when a visitor lands on either URL, she’ll be assigned a random variant and the plugin will redirect her to the URL she’s supposed to see, always.
It’s that easy!

Nelio A/B Testing
By combining A/B tests made with Nelio, we doubled the revenue of webshops in just 12 months. I would recommend Nelio A/B testing to anyone with a WordPress site who wants to start A/B testing. It is definitely the best A/B testing plugin with the best price/quality for WordPress and WooCommerce.

Improved Compatibility with Third-Party Plugins
Nelio A/B Testing is a plugin designed solely for WordPress. As such, our goal is to make sure it’ll work smoothly with your WordPress installation and that’s why we work so hard to integrate Nelio A/B Testing with the other plugins you’re probably using on your site as well.
Here’s a list of all the new integrations we added into Nelio:
- FlyingPress. Nelio should now be able to automatically flush your FlyingPress cache when starting/stopping tests, making your life a little bit easier. It also lets FlyingPress know about our tracking scripts so that they don’t get “optimized” and run as fast and as soon as possible.
- Fluent Forms. When running A/B tests on a websites, there’s plenty of things to optimize. One such thing is getting leads. Nelio A/B Testing has native support for most of the form plugins available for WordPress like, for example, Ninja Forms, WP Forms, Contact Form 7, Nelio Forms, or Elementor forms, to name but a few. Today, the list gets a little bit bigger as we now also support Fluent Forms. Track submissions of your Fluent Forms and use them as conversion actions in your tests effortlessly!
- SureCart. Most of Nelio users that have an e-commerce use WooCommerce. However, some of you contacted us and asked if we could also add some support for SureCart, a fantastic e-commerce plugin for WordPress. Well, wait no more: starting with Nelio A/B Testing 7.2, you can now use SureCart sales as conversion actions in your tests.
- Elementor Template Testing. We introduced Elementor template testing back in version 7.0, but we noticed some tests weren’t running as expected. Namely, it was impossible to run an Elementor template test that applied to custom post types. Version 7.2 addresses this issue and makes sure that Elementor template tests work as expected, under all circumstances.
- Share Results Publicly. You can now enable (if you want to) a public URL to share the results of your test with anyone who has said URL. It’s just one click away!
Additional Improvements
Nelio A/B Testing 7.2 also comes with a ton of little improvements and tweaks, most of which were requests you, dear user, asked for:
- Faster Heatmap View. We’ve redesigned our Heatmap results page from scratch to make sure that switching views and looking at your data is blazingly fast. With this new approach, you can easily change from one variant to another, switch from heatmap to scrollmap to confetti map in milliseconds, or change resolution on all views in a breeze. Heatmaps have never before been this fast and responsive!
- New Timeline in Test Results. In previous versions, the results page of your tests showed a timeline of conversion ratios per variant per day. You said you wanted a new timeline with the raw data instead… and you got it. You can now look at your daily views and daily conversions per variant.
- Variant Duplication. Split testing is an iterative process. More often than not, when creating a multi-variate test, you want a variant to look like another variant with a few changes here and there… but unfortunately (and surprisingly, I must admit) this was not possible – all variants always started as an exact copy of your control page. This new version addresses this limitation and makes it possible to duplicate variants.
- Better Bot Detection. The plugin is now able to better detect Meta (i.e. Facebook) bots and exclude them from your tests, saving you some precious quota and making sure you only get the data you’re really interested in.
…and more!
But that’s not all! Nelio A/B Testing 7.1 and 7.2 include a ton of bug fixes and other minor improvements. Here’s a comprehensive list:
- Add post/page ID in content searcher.
- Add home URL on tickets created from the plugin.
- Add
versionkey in publicnab’s session. - Tweak overlay styles to auto-hide them if JS fails.
- Tweak preview to hide overlay when variant is ready.
- Tweak Overview screen to show user-defined goal names in running experiments.
