As the year draws to a close, it’s the perfect moment to pause and reflect on the milestones, challenges, and memorable moments that shaped the past twelve months. In today’s post, we’re taking a closer look at everything that made 2025 what it was. And if you’re curious to see how this year compares to those that came before, you can also revisit our reviews from previous years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024.

Turning Effort into Impact in Nelio A/B Testing

We devoted a significant amount of time and energy this year to Nelio A/B Testing, our flagship plugin… and the very first product we launched back in 2014! A decade later, it remains at the core of what we do, and 2025 was a particularly active year for it.

Over the course of the year, we shipped four major releases for Nelio A/B Testing, each packed with meaningful improvements, refinements, and new capabilities. Beyond the many small tweaks and quality-of-life enhancements, several updates stood out for the value they bring to our users.

We introduced new types of tests, including PHP tests designed with developers in mind, as well as Popup tests and synced pattern tests, opening the door to more flexible and advanced experimentation scenarios. We also significantly improved CSS testing by adding a visual editor, which now makes it easy not only to style elements but also to apply small content changes without touching code.

On the analytics side, we added a long-awaited integration with Google Analytics 4, along with new conversion actions such as engagement, time on page, and page scroll—giving users deeper insights into how visitors interact with their sites. We also took our first steps into AI-assisted experimentation by offering an optional AI-powered feature that suggests test ideas and recommendations.

Finally, we expanded Nelio A/B Testing’s ecosystem with additional integrations with third-party plugins, making it easier than ever to fit experimentation naturally into existing WordPress setups.

All in all, 2025 was a year of steady, meaningful progress for Nelio A/B Testing, focused not just on adding features, but on making experimentation more powerful, accessible, and practical for everyone who relies on it.

Powering Smarter (Nelio) Content Creation

Nelio Content (our second plugin ever, originally released in 2016) continues to be the backbone for content creation, team coordination, and social sharing for many WordPress sites. In 2025, Nelio Content saw another year of strong momentum, with a clear focus on making everyday editorial work smoother, more flexible, and more powerful.

Throughout the year, we delivered three major releases, the result of countless hours spent refining existing features and introducing new capabilities that help teams work the way they actually do. One of the most visible improvements in Nelio Content was the addition of multimedia sharing support, making it possible to share more than just plain images on social networks that support richer media formats. We also made editorial workflows more adaptable by introducing custom statuses, allowing teams to tailor content stages to their own processes instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all approach.

On the social side, we expanded Nelio Content’s reach with support for new networks, including VK Publishing, Band, Medium, Blogger, and Plurk, giving users more ways to distribute their content from a single place.

Security and control were another key focus area this year. We introduced more granular permission settings so site owners can precisely define which users or authors have access to specific social profiles. Combined with smarter analytics, these enhancements provide better oversight, clearer insights, and greater confidence when managing content and social presence at scale.

Alongside these highlights, we shipped dozens of smaller improvements and refinements that may not always make headlines but significantly improve the day-to-day experience. Altogether, 2025 was a big step forward for Nelio Content—one that reinforces its role as a central hub for planning, publishing, and promoting content as a team.

Small Fixes, Big Impact

Beyond our flagship products, we also invested heavily in strengthening the rest of our plugin ecosystem. A big part of this work happened behind the scenes, where we upgraded codebases and adopted newer coding standards to ensure our plugins stay robust, maintainable, and fully aligned with the realities of today’s ever-evolving web.

Two plugins that received particular attention this year were Nelio Popups and Nelio Forms. Our development team spent a significant amount of time enhancing both, not only modernizing their foundations but also delivering new features that many of you had been requesting over the past months. These updates are the direct result of listening closely to user feedback and turning real-world needs into practical improvements.

Alongside product development, we also dedicated time to improving our documentation. Keeping documentation accurate and helpful is an ongoing effort, and throughout the year we worked to make sure it reflects the latest changes across all our plugins. Our goal is simple: to make it easier to find clear answers, understand new features, and get the most out of our tools. And this is far from done! Looking ahead, we’re already planning some exciting documentation-related improvements that we’ll be rolling out next year.

All of this work (both visible and behind the scenes) helps ensure that our plugins remain reliable, relevant, and ready for whatever comes next.

Looking Ahead to 2026

As we move into 2026, our focus remains clear and consistent: keep evolving, keep improving, and keep building tools you can truly rely on. We’ll continue refining all our plugins, adding new features where they make sense, and polishing existing ones so they remain fast, intuitive, and powerful.

Our goal is to ensure that every Nelio plugin continues to be one of the best WordPress tools at what it does, whether that’s experimentation, content management, social sharing, or lead generation. That means listening closely to your feedback, staying on top of changes in WordPress and the wider web ecosystem, and making thoughtful decisions about where to invest our time and energy.

2026 won’t be about change for the sake of change, but about meaningful progress: improvements that simplify workflows, unlock new possibilities, and help you get better results from your websites. We’re excited about what’s ahead, and we’re looking forward to building the next chapter together with you.
